David James (Jim) Ertel

David James (Jim) Ertel
19/1/55 – 30/12/08

We met when we were 12 at primary school when my folks moved into Tawa , the headmaster sat me down next to this skinny blond kid with big ears and said “this is Jim Ertel, he will look after you”.

We have been looking out for each other ever since.

The joke always was that I came home with him to play after school one day in 1967 and never left.

Best men at each other’s weddings , sympathisers at each of our divorces, fellow photographer, co-founder of Hewtel Productions, co-conspirator on many adventures , father of four, always willing to listen at the end of the phone, brother of three, founder of Server Central (Brisbane) , my best friend for more than 40 years and the brother I chose.

I’ll miss you man – send me inspiration

Amen.

Chris, you're always welcome in lives, the closer and more real the better.

Hello Chris, you don't know me but we had a mutual friend in Jim.

We meet at Mitsui Computer around 1987 0r 88 , thereabouts and have been friends since that time. He has always given me support and assistance when requested and with out hesitation.

I wasn't a close friend but we did have a few laughs and met most times around Christmas for ex-Mitsui Drinks.

His quiet demeanour betrayed this mans joking and wild attitude. He had a wicked and dry sense of humour.

I was very much saddened to hear the news in early January and really couldn't believe it until the memorial here in Brisbane.

I just want to say that He will be deeply missed.

My sincere commiserations

I just wanted to wish you my condolences Chris, and let you know that Jim was a great man, willing to do all he could for anyone who needed it. I was his personal trainer in Brisbane for the past few years, and he became the highlight of each day for me with his quirky dry sense of humour. I told him about my boyfriend proposing to me and showed him the ring, and every day since then, he would come in and ask if I was still engaged lol. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm sure Jim is still around you, you just can't see him. Take it easy, and have fun with the photography!!
