Morris and James at Matakana

Although I've pretty much run out of space to add anything more to my Morris and James collection it doesn't stop me making semi regular visits to their business in Matakana, its a nice day out and the attached Cafe is excellent.

Moving into tableware after the sale

They currently have their sale running (till 5th June) and I was certainly tempted......especially with this new design above - not in production.

ANZAC day memorial Devonport

One of hundreds of services across New Zealand to mark the fallen from World War One.

My Great Grandfather LW Hewitt  (above) in his WW1 uniform
Lance Corporal 41st Reinforcements F Company.
He returned but died when my father (Flight Sergeant Pilot WW2) L J  Hewitt (below) was four.
Dad lived to 89.

What to do with Fejoa ?

Fejoa does not keep well but they do make a very delicious jam.

My Fejoa and ginger jam.

My "Foster" brother Peters birthday cake

Leathers detailed right down to the scuff marks from an embarrassing and expensive "off" on the Manfeild Race track in Feilding- near Palmerston North.

Very nice chocolate cake under the beautifully done tread pattern.

A special cake for a very special person who's son summed it it by saying "dad always had my back"

Cliff near Tongaporutu River mouth.

This tree has fallen down a cliff and managed to stay the right way up. Photograph taken as the sun dropped over the horizon right behind me - very unusual light and reflections due to black iron sand and fresh water leaching onto the beach after a rain storm the day before
